Morganza Cemetery, Canonsburg

The following children are buried in a small graveyard not far from where Morganza used to be. Many large and very nice corporate office buildings have been built on the grounds of the old reform school, but the graves remain, hidden except for those who seek them.

I found the sad tombstones for the following 16 girls and 15 boys:

Anna Johnson
Elizabeth Bunta
Anna Boyd
Maggie Smallwood
Ida May
Margaret Bender
Emeline Workman
Elizabeth Wood
Minnie M. Young
Sophia Baker
Sarah Gray
Cathrine Smith
Josephine Shriver
Nora McClelland
Lizzie J. Smith
Laura Swatzler

Charles Watson
Harry Turney
Henry Worthington
William Mac Beth
J. Cobb
Fred Tobias
William Sweeney
George Heintzleman
Hudson Cook
George De Loss
Ellias Shellto
Albert Norman
Harry Boley
John Gaten
Thomas Carter

I am haunted by their untold stories...why did they die...did they fall ill...were they killed...?
No dates, just a name and "Rest in Peace".
I feel some research is in order.

The following site belonging to Norman Meinert, (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~njm1/05Morganza.html)  was a bit helpful with names, including 5 girls buried without any markers:  Ella Douglas, Emma Ginton, Mary Miner, Mary Holfelder and Hulda Stratton and 5 boys whose markers I didn't see:  Jesse Hardin,  Harry Hurn,  William Irwin, Ralph Jackson and Jeremiah Mynert. That brings the number of graves to 41.
